2019 U.S. Open Picks

It’s almost time for the 119th U.S. Open and Pebble Beach looks better than ever.  The players are getting in their final preparations as they get ready for the toughest test in golf.  The weather looks good and we can expect another outstanding U.S. Open this week.  Let’s take a look at some picks.

Core Fore

Rory McIlroy ($10,500) – I was initially going to go with Dustin Johnson as my main anchor this week but I’ve decided to save some money and drop down to Rory. Rory is currently being projected about 5-7% lower than DJ and while DJ has a much higher floor, Rory provides just as high of a ceiling. Rory has been on fire this year and is coming off of a dominating performance in Canada. Maybe his missed cut 2 weeks ago is exactly what he needed to refocus a bit. Even with that MC Rory is averaging 9.2 SG:T2G, 4.6 SG:App, 1.3 SG:P, 6.8 GIR’s Gained and 3.1 Birdies Gained over his last 5 PGA events. If Rory finds fairways and his putter stays warm he could very easily end his 5 year Major-less drought this week. If you want safety go with DJ but I like Rory as a better GPP play.
