Everyone can’t wait for the Masters to start but there’s still the Valero to get through. Although many golfers are already preparing for Augusta there are 156 players looking to add a trophy to their collection this week. This difficult track will require full attention to detail and a good all around game. Let’s take a look at some picks for the 2019 Valero Texas Open.
Tony Finau ($10,800) – Nothing statistically jumps out for Tony Finau but in a weak field I like his chances. After his great performance at Augusta last year I think he’ll be looking to go into the Masters in top form. Finau has been pretty good on the greens lately averaging 2.4 SG:P over his last 5 events. He’s also gaining 1.3 Good Drives Gained, 1.2 SG:Prox(175-200) and 1.4 SG:Prox(200+). Again there’s been nothing spectacular over the past month but I think this is the week Finau starts to put it together and get things rolling.
