Incentives. Incentives. Incentives. That is the focus of week 17, the last week of the NFL regular season. I did my best to focus on those situations along with teams trying to secure a playoff spot or a bye week in the playoffs. I feel that is where the fantasy production is going to come this week. It’s been a pleasure writing this year! Let’s finish this off with a bang.
Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions
Week 17 is all about incentives. There is a very strong one in Green Bay with star wide receiver Davante Adams. Adams only needs two receptions to break Sterling Sharpe’s 25-year-old franchise reception record for a season. I wouldn’t be shocked if Adams got those receptions on the first drive. He’ll get that one easily. The second record Adams is chasing is the franchise record for receiving yards in a season which Jordy Nelson set in 2014. Adams needs 134 yards to break the record. He has had over 130 receiving yards in four out of his 15 games this season. This record will be tougher to accomplish, but the organization and most importantly quarterback Aaron Rodgers knows what Adams needs to break both records. There’s a realistic chance that Adams could see 20 targets in this game. He had 18 last week in his 11 receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown which was a walk-off game winner. The best part of it all is that the matchup against the Detroit Lions secondary is a good one! The Lions are last in DVOA pass defense this season. Adams torched Darius Slay and company in their last meeting with nine catches for 140 yards and a touchdown. He’s the seventh highest priced wide receiver on DraftKings and fourth highest on FanDuel. Lock him in everywhere. Previously mentioned Aaron Rodgers had his ceiling game last week against the New York Jets. Rodgers threw for 442 yards and two touchdowns while also adding two rushing touchdowns. He attempted a season high 55 passes! I’d expect similar attempts in their last game of the season at home this week. Jamaal Williams ran extremely well against the Jets last week as he played a season high 95% of the offensive snaps. No other Green Bay running back saw an offensive snap. The Lions are stout against the run this season (12th in DVOA), but Williams will also be involved in the passing game like last week where he caught six receptions on nine targets.
