With just an eight game slate on tap for tonight we need to find a high upside stack to propel us up the GPP leader boards. Let’s take a look at a few stacks that have some high upside potential in tonight’s games.
St. Louis Cardinals
Vs. Logan Verrett (R)
Tonight we get the second best team in baseball vs right handed pitching going up against a pitcher that allows 1.42 HR/9 and a 32.7 HH%. Logan Verrett takes the mound for the Mets tonight and he should have his hands full. This will mark is fourth straight start but keep in mind that he’s still a relief pitchers. In Verrett’s four starts this year he has a 1-4 record with a 4.97 ERA. He has pitched better in his last two starts but still allowed 12 hits and two home runs. Verrett’s inability to strike people out (5.88 K/9) mixed with his 3.88 BB/9 could spell trouble for him tonight. He is allowing a 35.9% HH rate to left handed hitters so it will be interesting to see the Cardinals lineup once it comes out.
St. Louis comes into this game with a .199 ISO (1st in MLB) vs RHP and a .341 wOBA (3rd in MLB). The Cardinals might be missing their best player in Matt Carpenter but don’t let that fool you, they still have seven guys with a .200 ISO or better. If the Cardinals bats stay patient at the plate (.45 BB/K) like we have seen on occasion and Verrett struggles with command, we could see a big night from some of these bats.
Tommy Pham .292 ISO, .412 wOBA, 51% HH, 162 wRC+
Aledmys Diaz .224 ISO, .395 wOBA, 33% HH, 150 wRC+
Randal Grichuk .254 ISO, .338 wOBA, 36% HH, 112 wRC+
Matt Adams .245 ISO, .341 wOBA, 36% HH, 114 wRC+
Jedd Gyorko .340 ISO, .386 wOBA, 33% HH, 145 wRC+
notes: Make sure to check the lineup once it comes out. Piscotty will probably be in the middle of that lineup and I don’t mind him as part of a stack as well. The guys listed do hit RHP better than he does though.
